About a month ago, we introduced this to those of you who have long envisioned your gadget to someday be red, or pink, or lilac, or baby blue, or yellow, so on and so forth.
Just earlier today, we paid a visit to the “Haus of BiB” to watch Eric Soong repair and pimp up a Blackberry Bold 9700. Now, the pictures of the process might scare you but rest assured, Eric is someone who pays great attention to detail and the best part is, you wouldn’t have to leave your phone unattended (read: separated from you) while he’s getting the work done.
Taking it apart is perhaps the most painful (all the unscrewing, snaps, and clicks) but also the most fascinating part to watch! The Blackberry Bold 9700 really isn’t as thick as the “housing” makes it out to be and it’s filled with the tiniest little components.
This is the Blackberry Bold 9700’s motherboard looking pretty naked and, well, useless. It’s really thin though. Who would’ve thought that the hours and hours of “quality time” on BBM is spent on this..thing? Can’t compute the wonders of technology? Neither can we. It’s interesting though, no?
Here’s where Eric puts all the tiniest little components and the motherboard all back together again before fitting the housing on. It doesn’t look like the prettiest thing just yet. But wait..
Fitting the back portion of the housing..
Fitting the front portion of the housing..
Carefully sticking on a screen protector (you know, just in case one gets clumsy)..
Mission accomplished! Quite easily done. How long did that take? Oh..about 15 minutes.
Good as gold! Uhm. New. Good as new!
Stop envisioning your gadget to someday be red, or pink, or lilac, or baby blue, or yellow, or any other colour of your dreams. Make it happen!
