Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” didn’t have the longest run at #1 in the first half of 2014. Calvin Harris has been atop the Global Spotify-50 for seven weeks so far and Perry was #1 for just five weeks. Despite this, “Dark Horse” amassed more streams than any other song in the world, more than 142 million over the last six months.

8. Doug Seegers ft. Jill Johnson & Magnus Carlsson – “Going Down To The River”
Seegers, a formerly-homeless street musician from Nashville, blew up in Sweden this year and became country music’s newest international star.

9. Beck – “Blue Moon”
The alt-rocker released his first album in six years this year, Morning Phase, and this was its first single.
