Washing your face with your hands cleans the skin pretty adequately, but this does not eliminate the bulk of the sebum, dirt and debris, often causing clogged pores that can irritate the skin. When your pores are clogged, the pore size enlarges and becomes more prominent, thus, causing the skin to become bumpy, oily, blackhead-prone and acne-prone. Truthfully, most young women experience what we’ve just described, but what if you can change all that once and for all?
You’ve probably heard about Clarisonic and all the wonderful things this revolutionary tool does for the skin. Well, what is it exactly? This rechargeable professional skin cleansing tool uses the miracle of sonic technology to efficiently reduce the size of pores and transform the skin, leaving it flawless, radiant and smooth. Oscillating at over 300 movements per second, the brush works wonderfully to deep cleanse and exfoliate the skin, removing way more sebum, dirt and debris than manual cleansing ever can.
Clearly, the power of the Clarisonic is indisputable, considering how popular it is worldwide. However, for the price you’re paying, is it really worth the investment? Well, I’ve recently began using the Clarisonic and I’m going to share with you my thoughts and experience using this highly-raved about skincare tool as well as the before and after effects on my skin over a four-week period.
How My Skin Is Generally Like
The biggest problem I’ve had with my skin is having prominent enlarged pores around my nose and on my cheeks. I have combination skin and the condition of it changes occasionally. For instance, I get oily around my nose at most times but on certain days, it can get dry and flaky. Also, my skin can get quite sensitive, sometimes causing redness and peeling of the skin. I’ve never had bad acne and I only get pimples occasionally around my T-zone. I’ve always had pretty bad blackheads and a few slight bumps on my chin area that I cannot get rid of. Also, I’ve never used any special tool on my skin prior to the Clarisonic.
Considering all that I’ve just described about my skin, I knew that the Clarisonic Mia 2 Deep Pore Decongesting Solution Kit would be perfect for me when I received it. You can get the Clarisonic alone, but this kit comes with a cleanser and mask to be used with the tool, specially to target the pores from within.
This Clarisonic Mia 2 Deep Pore Decongesting Solution Kit consists of the Clarisonic Mia 2 with a Deep Pore brush head attached, the Deep Pore Daily Cleanser and the Deep Pore Decongesting Clay Mask. This two-step system is supposed to help soften, purify and refine pores while maintaining the skin’s barrier and improving the skin’s texture.
How I Use the Clarisonic
My skin is a little sensitive, so I only use the Clarisonic at night time. After a long day, I remove the bulk of my makeup with my cleansing oil and after that, I proceed with the Clarisonic. I put the brush under a running tap to moisten it, squeeze a pea-sized amount of the gel-like Deep Pore Daily Cleanser onto the brush, press the power button and massage the tool gently on my skin in circular motions.
The Clarisonic Mia 2 has two speed settings, but I only use the lower speed setting to avoid irritating my skin. The Mia 2 also comes with a one-minute T-Timer which is super helpful. When you press the power button, the brush starts oscillating and there will be pulses to prompt you to move the tool to a different area on your face.
With the cleanser that came in the kit, my advice is to begin with your nose and chin, cheeks and finally, your forehead. When I first used it, I started with my forehead and the cleanser foamed up a lot. It ended up dripping down my eye area and it stung like crazy. Now, I know better. When I’m done, I just splash my face with water and pat dry. As for the Clarisonic, I rinse it under running water, pat dry and put the protective cap back on.
Some people use the Clarisonic for a good two minutes, but really, one minute is more than enough. I have tried using the T-Timer twice at one go and it was a little too harsh for my skin. Although it didn’t peel whatsoever, my skin felt uncomfortable and excessively exfoliated after.
Results After My First Use
When I first used it, I was shocked to see that the brush was sort of grey after I cleansed my skin with it. This proved how dirty my skin was and the Clarisonic had really extracted the gunk out of my skin. I noticed a huge difference right away! After patting my skin dry, I noticed that my pores significantly reduced in size, my skin felt soft and smooth, and most importantly, a lot of my blackheads were gone. Pretty impressive for the first time!
I also knew that the tool really worked because all the products I applied after that absorbed into nothing after a short period of time. Usually, I would still feel it on my skin even after a few hours. However, after using the Clarisonic, the products absorbed so well and quickly that I didn’t feel a thing at all. It assured me that all the good stuff from the products are locked into my skin.
After using the Clarisonic for three days, I tried the Deep Pore Decongesting Clay Mask. I just spread an even layer onto my entire face and let it dry completely. Sadly, the mask sort of irritated my skin and I felt a little sting, but it wasn’t unbearable, so I left it on. The mask dried after a good 10 minutes, then I moistened my Clarisonic and used it to remove the clay mask. After I rinsed it off, I followed up with the rest of my skincare regime.
The mask did help to further refine my pores and make my skin look more radiant. Most clay masks are very drying, but this one isn’t. It does complement the cleanser very well and does its job to further decongest the skin from deep within. Clarisonic says to use this mask twice a week, but I think once a week is sufficient.
After One Week
I’ve been using the kit for a week now and I can say that I’m really impressed. My skin has then changed tremendously and I love how it looks. It is less oily, more glowy, less bumpy and my overall skin tone has improved, with not much redness. I’m loving the Clarisonic so far and I think everyone should experience it for themselves to attest its wonders.
Check back next Friday to find out more about my experience with the Clarisonic!
