A best friend is special, but to earn that extra F that stands for forever in BFF, one needs to be truly outstanding. You know, the kind that makes you pancakes when you have sleepovers, the kind that will stroke your hair when you cry about not being able to fit into your skinny jeans and most importantly, someone that will be there for you no matter what.
We all grew up with Disney cartoons and they’ve all taught us a lot of thing but one important lesson we have learned is, a best friend can be such a positive influence. We pick out some of our favourite BFF characters that embodies some of the best traits a friend could possibly have:
Ariel and Flounder – Bravery
Flounder was a bit of a scaredy cat, or rather scaredy fish? Scaredy cat-fish? Anyway, Flounder was sometimes a sissy, especially when it came to things that were unfamiliar. But despite being an adorable fearful fish at times, he didn’t hesitate to help Ariel when she needed him to.
Russell and Carl – Support
The best kind of help, is the kind that you never knew you needed and in Disney-Pixar’s Up, Russell and Carl teaches us that sometimes without realizing, we all need a helping hand. Carl may have not wanted Russell in his house that was being carried away by balloons, but he eventually comes around and accepts Carl as the best BFF anyone could ever have.
Timon and Pumbaa – Being Optimistic
Probably the most memorable pair of BFFs in the list of Disney characters, Timon and Pumbaa teaches us all that no matter how crap things may get, you have got to be optimistic. They also taught us that with a little bit of a Hakuna Matata attitude, one can overcome the hardest of times.
Penny and Bolt – Nurturing
Probably one of the most underrated Disney cartoons, Bolt tells the story of a dog that’s willing to protect his human at all cost. Even though the threat wasn’t real, Bolt embarks on a cross-country adventure to save his co-star because of how much he cares for her. Nothing quite makes a friendship last when two people care for each other that much.
Pocahontas, Meeko and Flit – Encouragement
These three teaches us that even though some strange hot looking man comes through your village, you support your best friend’s decision when she decides to fall in love with him. Sometimes dreams can seem unreachable and sound ridiculous but with a little encouragement and the right kind, you can achieve just about anything.
Pooh and Piglet – Sharing
I can honestly say that no BFF friendship can ever compare to the one that Pooh and Piglet has with each other. Every time either one of them has some honey or something worth sharing, they are quick to pass it around. This teaches us to not just share toys but also success with our loved ones and our BFF!
