Hearts were broken as Germany crushed Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semi-finals on Tuesday. Parliament member Bung Moktar was happy about the Germans winning and decided to tweet about it.

WELL DONE..BRAVO…LONG LIVE HITLER…

— Bung Moktar Radin (@MyKinabatangan) July 8, 2014

Not surprisingly, Bung received flak from everyone worldwide for his insensitive praise of Hitler. However, he doesn’t seem to think that it’s a big deal.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with people sometimes. Hitler is part of history and the German team fought like how he did, he told The Star Online.

On Twitter, he is refusing to back down too.

“@redzwanrashid: “@MyKinabatangan: WELL DONE..BRAVO…LONG LIVE HITLER. ex of one of our Member of Parliament. Y I’m not shocked?”WHATEVER. — Bung Moktar Radin (@MyKinabatangan) July 8, 2014

“@shaike49: “@MyKinabatangan: WELL DONE..BRAVO…LONG LIVE HITLER…” low class crazy MP.”u can get lost..and enjoy with the loser..

— Bung Moktar Radin (@MyKinabatangan) July 8, 2014

“@Jpequod: how he got elected ? “@MyKinabatangan 13h WELL DONE..BRAVO…LONG LIVE HITLER…””COZ IM BETTER THEN U.

— Bung Moktar Radin (@MyKinabatangan) July 9, 2014

While Bung himself doesn’t seem to feel any remorse for the tweet, Lim Guan Eng, Penang’s chief minister, pointed out that Germany would have jailed Bung for violating anti-Nazi laws.

Our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has also finally spoken regarding the issue via Twitter and urges Bung to swallow his unacceptable remark.

The comments made by Datuk Bung Moktar are unacceptable and wrong, and he will withdraw them.

— Mohd Najib Tun Razak (@NajibRazak) July 10, 2014

He does not speak for Malaysia, or for ordinary Malaysians, who understand Europe’s tragic past, and respect its modern unity.

— Mohd Najib Tun Razak (@NajibRazak) July 10, 2014

This should be a time of celebration for Germany, and we wish them all the best in the final.

How embarrassing!
