[REVIEW] 3 Ramadan Buffet Venues That Will Tantalise Your Tastebuds

Only a couple of weeks to go before the month of Ramadan comes to an end, this is your chance to make the best out of the many food choices out there. If you’re looking for a different way to experience and enjoy the usual Ramadan fare at bazaars, why not indulge and treat your loved ones to a generous buffet spread?

In our special Ramadan buffet review, we’re bringing you three venues that serve up an impressive selection of traditional and modern favourites with a twist.

The Apartment

Overview: With the theme “Sundown”,  The Apartment will be hosting a feast of tantalizing delicacies. Featuring a different set menu every day, the Apartment’s selection will delight your taste buds and have you coming back for more. Diners will also be able to watch live cooking demonstrated by The Apartment’s chefs and also take away a home-made cookie in the shape of a ketupat.

Highlights: A variety of popular Malay cuisine to some delightful European-styled dishes.Among the highlights include Kerabu Ayam Pedas, Nasi Hujan Panas, Ayam Masak Merah, and Masak Lemak Nenas, to Asian-styled dishes such as Spicy Chicken Maekjok, Tom Yum Goong, Aloo Gobi, Chicken Inasal, and Pecal Lele. The buffet line-up also features dishes such as Mushroom & Spinach Pasta, White Fish Pie, Clams Aglio Olio, Piquant Cream Grilled Chicken and lots more.

Favourite dish: Nasi Hujan Panas. Nothing fantastic upon appearance but the taste, oh golly! The rice is cooked to perfection with an array of herbs and spices. The dish compliments most of the Malay styled dishes.

Price: RM59.90++ at the Curve and RM79.90++ at KLCC.Kids will enjoy a flat rate of RM26.90++ at both outlets.

The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Overview: This Ramadhan, dine under the stars at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur facing the exquisite lake. The ‘al fresco’ setting will offer over 140 traditional and regional Malaysian specialty dishes.15 hawker stall will showcase both local and international flavours. Spoil your loved ones with the enormous variety of food while they enjoy the traditional Ghaza musicians performing.

Highlights: With such a large array of food available, it’s hard to pick out favourites as they are all equally scrumptious and will delight your taste buds. But The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur has chosen only the finest of ingredients so that guests can indulge during this Ramadhan.

Favourite dish: The “Whole Roasted Lamb on a Bed of Fragrant Briyani Rice” is definitely one of the best dishes the buffet has to offer.

Price: RM115++ for adults and RM57.50++ for children between 6-12 years of age.

Paya Serai at Hilton Petaling Jaya

Overview: This Ramadhan, Hilton PJ is serving up a feast of over 300 dishes for their Iftar and Sahur buffet spread. The hotel’s culinary team of 13 chefs has come up with a pretty hard to beat extravagant spread that will satisfy your cravings for all things local such as Lawa Roasted Beef Salad, Fish Head Curry, Rendang Tok, Ikan Bakar Melaka, Whole Roasted Lamb Malay Style, Serawa Durian and Pulut, Kerabu Gamat and Apam Balik.

Highlights: Not only will you be spoiled for choice with the massive selection of local, Japanese, Indian, Chinese and Western dishes, diners can adjourn to Hilton PJ’s unique outdoor Durian Orchard Station where durians will be served at the hotel’s Porte-cochere area every night throughout Ramadan, where the fruit is opened there and then. Durian lovers, we hear you rejoicing! Also, while enjoying the gorgeous spread, guests will be serenaded by a local traditional music group from Bale Bale Entertainment and trust us, you will appreciate the retro and vintage mood that their music evokes.

Favourite dish: The Pulut Hitam Lemang is a must-try and we absolutely love the variety of Malay salads or kerabu. Other stand outs include the Serawa Durian and Pulut which is a warm, creamy dessert and for those who want a taste of old school Malaya, be sure to check out the buffet’s tapioca-based desserts.

Price: The Ramadan Buffet Promotion runs from 7pm to 10pm daily and is priced at RM119 per adult, for the first three days (June 28 2014 – June 30 2014) and the last five days (July 23 2014 – July 27 2014) of the fasting month. For the following days (July 1 2014 – July 22 2014), the buffet promotion is priced at RM139 per adult and RM79 per child aged below 12 years old. All prices are subject to prevailing government taxes and service charge.
