The great myth is that Asians have nice and smooth skin. But that doesn’t apply to all Asians. Little do they know, Asians suffer from various skin problems because of the hot weather and pollution in most Asian countries. It makes our skin oilier, easier to trap dirt, clog our pores, and eventually, cause acne.
Sure, concealers, foundations, or BB creams can cover the unsightly marks – but only temporarily. In fact, too much “covering up” can worsen acne problems. And beauty products such as off-the-shelf masks can help you protect your skin from horrendous acne but if your aim is to control and treat your acne, then you might need to invest in more expensive skincare or visit a dermatologist. However, not everyone can afford to do so on a monthly basis (especially when the price tags are enough to kill your purse).
Here’s a handy tip, though! Did you know that you could make your own acne and oil control facial mask from the most basic items in your kitchen? We all know that oatmeal is good for the heart but it is also beneficial when applied directly to the skin. It helps with oil-removal and absorption, and the roughness of oatmeal also helps take away dead skin cells.
What you will need:
1. Oatmeal
2. Honey
3. Some water
Combine three-quarter cup oatmeal with half a cup of water and cook it for a few minutes (the way you would cook oatmeal). After a few minutes, dump in a quarter cup of honey and stir well. When applying the oatmeal mask, avoid getting it into your eyes. And remember to leave it on for at least 20 minutes. After which, you may then wash off with warm water and, ta-dah! You’re done!
Practice this really simple and extremely cost effective acne treatment for at least once a week and you’re well on your way to the “perfect Asian nice and smooth skin”!
