What if there are simple ways to get rid of blackheads without burning a hole through your wallet and with ingredients that you will already have at home.
Here are some eight of the best natural ingredients to use to get rid of all that annoying blackheads:
Turmeric
Why: Unlike the ones we use for cooking, which also stains, Kasturi turmeric powder is non-edible as it is non-staining! The fact that these things are anti-inflammatory and an great antioxidant makes it a wonderful natural ingredient to treat blackheads.
How: Mix a small amount of Kasturi turmeric with water or coconut oil until it becomes pasty. Apply it on to the area with blackheads and leave it for about 10-15 minutes, wash off and ta-da! Blackheads be gone!
Honey
Why: Honey can last for centuries. It actually never ever expires, so imagine how great that can be for your health to consume honey! Imagine all that goodness when applied to your skin, especially since it’s antiseptic and anti-bacterial.
How: Heat up a tablespoon of raw honey in a small jar. Try placing the jar in a bowl of very hot water. Smudge some warm honey on your blackheads and leave it for ten minutes. Wipe off with some damp cloth and done! You can choose to leave it overnight but honey on your pillow would be a bit of a task to clean.
Baking Soda
Why: This might be the answer to people with blackheads and acne due to the antiseptic quality in baking soda.
How: Much like the other natural remedies, all you got to do is mix a tablespoon of baking soda with water to form a paste, leave it on the affected area for about ten minutes and allowing it to dry. Once that is done, just rinse off with water. For best result, repeat this method once or twice a week.
Epsom Salt
Why: The Epsom salt, much like the other natural ingredients on this list dissolves dead skin and oil. But it also one extra benefit and that is how the Epsom salt mixture actually extracts the plugs out of clogged pores and washes it away!
How: First, you must exfoliate around your blackheads so that it rids of any dead skin that might disrupt this process. Then mix one teaspoon of Epsom salt with hot water and four drops of iodine. Rub the mixture to affected area and allow it to dry, then wash it all off.
Green Tea
Why: The vitamins and anti-oxidants in green tea is really helpful to skin that’s acne prone because it reduces inflammation. Green tea also helps break down excess oil.
How: Boil about 25oml of water and steep two teabags (which is worth two teaspoons of green tea leaves) for an hour. Allow tea to cool and then dab tea onto your blackheads and let it dry. Allow 10 minutes before rinsing off with cool water, pat your face dry and then moisturize. Do this once a day.
Oatmeal
Why: Not only does oatmeal soak up excess oil but it also soothes irritation and removes dry dead skin cells.
How: Use distilled water because it lacks in contaminants and cook an amount that you would need to cover your blackheads. Let it cool before slapping the oatmeal on to your face and leave on for ten to twenty minutes before rinsing it off with cool water.
Lemon Juice
Why: The Vitamin C in lemon juice is anti-oxidant and activates collagen production to boost skin health and lessen the scarring that may come from acne. Lemon juice also contains alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) citric acid, which naturally removes dead skin and won’t allow for clogged pores.
How: First off, you should wash your face with a natural cleanser and then, in a ceramic bowl or glass, squeeze one teaspoon worth of juice from an organic lemon. Dab on to blackheads with a cotton ball and let it dry for ten minutes before washing it off. Alternatively, you can also leave it on overnight.
Cinnamon
Why: Cinnamon is known to be an anti-bacterial spice used to make aromatic masks that helps get rid of blackheads.
How: Mix one part of cinnamon with two parts honey until mixture becomes pasty. Apply a thin layer over affected area and leave that on for 15 minutes. Wash off with a natural cleanser before putting your usual moisturizer on.
