In some parts of the world, girls can allow themselves a season of growing out their bush, because of winter and let’s face it, no one will get into a pair of bikini during the cold season. Whereas here, we have to thank our lucky stars for having summer climate all year long. That also means, we have got to be bikini-ready all day, everyday!

But what are the options that are available to be completely groomed down there? There’s shaving and waxing, which are the two most popular temporary solution of them all. Some prefer the former as it’s the less excruciating but others would go for the latter. So, we decided to cover the good and the bad of both methods.

Time and speed
Waxing:
When it comes to removing hair from the vajayjay area, it can take up to 45 minutes to one whole hour, and that’s if you pay a waxpert to do it. It might take a little longer if you were to do it yourself at home.
Shaving: This is a very quick process. If your hair is too long then trim it down with a pair of scissors.

Price
Waxing:
Depending of what kind of wax you would prefer, the prices usually varies. For a normal Brazilian wax, you’re looking at somewhere between RM90 – Rm 120, and this is for the hard wax option. Soft wax might be a little cheaper.
Shaving: A good razor (which usually has 3-5 in a packet) and shaving cream won’t cost you any more than RM40.

Do-It-Yourself
Waxing: There are a bunch of things you will need to clean up that area at home, such as wax, a heater, strips, applicators, powder, oil and you need to get wax, a heater, strips, applicators, powder or oil and wax remover. Do a thorough research with the kind of supplies you would need to purchase.
Shaving:  Grab your razor, shaving cream and turn the tap on. That’s pretty much it!

Level of difficulty
Waxing:
Doing it yourself might be a little more than tricky. Best to allow the experts to do what they do best. Unless you’ve had your ribcage removed then it’s going to be pretty hard for you to see the stray hairs. So, just leave it to the experts.
Shaving: You could do this with your eyes closed. But don’t.

The end result
Waxing: If hair is removed with entire follicle then you can expect to be bald “down there” for about six weeks. You can expect bruises and bumps from the waxing experience but it’s totally worth it.
Shaving: Depending on how fast your hair grows, you can see hair after shaving on the same day itself or a few days after. With shaving, you’re more prone to getting ingrown hairs.
