The authorities have arrested the woman who allegedly whipped a suspect that raped her 13-year-old daughter.
State CID chief Asst Comm Lai Yong Heng said the woman, aged 38, was arrested with her husband, 40, and 22-year-old son on Friday night.
“The three suspects were arrested at their home Kampung Gong Bayor, Kampung Raja, Terengganu at 9pm, by a CID team from the Kelantan police contingent.
“They have been remanded under Section 326 of the Criminal Procedure Code for seven days to facilitate investigations.
“The police are doing their duty to uphold law and order, despite the reaction from the public who sympathised with the suspects.
“They allegedly caused grievous hurt to the suspects, which is a serious crime, and it is natural for the police to act and investigate the case,” ACP Lai said on Saturday.
The suspect, who suffered welts on his buttocks, face and hands, was apprehended by the 22-year-old brother and father of the victim. He was later handed to the police for further action to be taken.
Police sent the suspect to the Universiti Sains Hospital at Kubang Kerian after he experienced blood clots in his head, but he was later discharged.
The other 22-year-old suspect was apprehended at Panji by members of the victim’s family. He was allegedly beaten and later handed to the police.
Both suspects allegedly raped the teenager a few times in a house at Bachok on May 22 at 4.30am.
Last Thursday, another video footage emerged of the 28-year-old suspect, showing him with his hands and legs tied up, and being whipped on the buttocks by the mother.
The case is not linked to the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old teenage girl by more than 30 men in Ketereh.
