A Form Five student injured his left hand after it was pierced by the sharp edge of the grille of his school gate when he attempted to climb over it on Wednesday.
The incident happened at 11.30am in Pasir Mas when the 18-year-old and 20 of his friends tried to leave early by climbing the gate after they failed to get permission from the security guard.
“I failed to clear the gate and fell, causing my hand to be caught in the spear-like grille edge,” the student told reporters.
The student had to deal with the pain for about an hour before the Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Department personnel managed to help him.
“The rescuers managed to free my hand and I was the Lati Hospital where I received 30 stitches,” the student said.
