Ways to Cuff Your Jeans For Different Looks

Cuffing your jeans adds a very personal flair and edge to any pair of denims you choose to wear. But, with so many different styles, washes and cuts for denim as well as different heights and styles for shoes, how would you know which cuff suits what? We believe that this is an intuitive process, so just do whatever feels right. To guide you, here are five of the most common ways some people cuff their jeans!

1. Neat cuff – Simple, classy and chic, this neat cuff looks best on skinny jeans, straight leg jeans and cigarette cut jeans. Simply fold up the hem once until the fold is about two to three inches in height. Make sure to tug horizontally at the bottom of the fold to make sure your cuff is neat.

2. Bubble roll – This roll makes a statement and highlights the bottom half of your legs. Just simply take the hem and literally roll the denim up to add volume to the roll. For this roll to work, the jeans bottom has to be somewhat tight, so we suggest doing this with skinny or cropped jeans.

3. Classic peg – This works better with jeans that are looser at the ankle such as straight leg jeans, boyfriend jeans and boot cut jeans. To achieve this look, simply fold your jeans sideways onto itself, making sure it is tight at the ankle and roll the hem up casually.

4. Carefree cuff – This cuff is more organic and free-spirited, giving your complete look a grungy effect. Simply fold up the bottom to your liking, and mess around with it so that it looks perfectly undone as well as different on both legs.

5. Pressed cuff – If you’d like, you can also do the pressed cuff to conceal the hem of your jeans. Just fold the hem up neatly twice and then iron it down, sew it in place or press it down so that it keeps its shape.

6. Messy roll – There’s no better way to put this – just roll the hem up carelessly to achieve that tousled, relaxed look. This roll works best on cropped jeans, skinny jeans, tattered jeans and boyfriend jeans.
