Prom — the one event that every high schooler looks forward to.
The Richmond, Virginia, dance was held under a series of restrictions, one of which included that girls’ dresses had to be of fingertip length, which means the dresses could not be short enough to allow the fingertips of a laid down hand to touch the skin. Fair enough we say.
17-year-old Clare carefully abide by this rule, but was still kicked out of her own prom! Why? Because her dancing provoked impure thoughts in some horny dads!
According to Opposing Views, the 17-year-old wrote on her sister’s blog that she was pulled aside by a female chaperone right after she arrived at the ballroom to hear that her dress was too short.
Standing tall at 5’9, Clare was proud and happy to show that her fingertips did not touch the skin of her thighs when she put her hands down her side.
The chaperone let her go and as she walked to the dance floor, Clare noticed a group of dads talking suspiciously amongst themselves and it was clear to her that they were checking her and the other girls out.
Clare and her friends tried to have a blast despite blatantly being gaped at by these men.
Unfortunately, it was not long before the same chaperone pulled Clare aside and told her that these dads agreed that her dancing was too provocative, mainly because her dress was too short.
“I was told that the way I dressed and moved my body was causing men to think inappropriately about me, implying that it is my responsibility to control other people’s thoughts and drives.”
According to Clare, she was not so much dancing as she was swaying in an attempt to get the grown-up eyes off her, but the chaperone had had enough.
Clare was kicked out of the dance and her six friends were so disgusted by it that they went with her. The girl’s parents demanded for refunds to their tickets but the event planner only agreed to give Clare her money back.
Clare is asking the Richmond Homeschool Prom to give her friends a full refund and apologise for kicking her out.
“I’m not responsible for some perverted 45-year-old dad lusting after me because I have a sparkly dress on and a big ass for a teenager. And if you think I am, then maybe you’re part of the problem.”
The Richmond Homeschool Prom’s Facebook page was littered with disgusted comments — so many that the page was deleted altogether.
