Mindy Taylor, 35, is facing felony charges after manipulating the entire town of Chillicothe, Ohio into believing that she was battling intestinal cancer. Believing her, the community collectively donated funds to support Taylor’s treatment and recovery.

The wife and mother of a 7-year-old girl even had her family convinced of her feigned sickness. Throughout the masquerade, Taylor had the guts to post her daily “pain and struggles” to a fundraising blog, mobilising an army of beneficiaries who called themselves Mindy’s Army.

Like that’s not enough, there was even a charity run, completed with customised t-shirts, that Taylor’s friends and family organised on her behalf.

Taylor’s cancer stunt came to an end after she appeared on the front page of the local paper. An investigation took place after local authorities received an anonymous call that suggested a background check on the legitimacy of Taylor’s condition. “It’s a lie,” said the caller, “You should check it out.”

Taylor has been arrested and has applied for a diversion — legal speak for “give that money back, fool.”
