I get it, sometimes you just need to reply that text of yours while you’re on the wheel. Here’s a short video to remind you about the dangers of texting while driving.
Produced by the Tombras Group and posted online April 3 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to mark the beginning of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the 30-second PSA shows how a happy afternoon turned disastrous for three teens — all because of a momentary distraction.
According to Distraction.gov, a website launched this month by the Department of Transportation to raise awareness about distracted driving, more than 3,300 people were killed and more than 420,000 injured in accidents involving a distracted driver in the U.S. in 2012. “At any given moment during daylight hours, over 660,000 vehicles are being driven by someone using a hand-held cell phone,” per the website.
