Facial masks are essential in my skincare routine as I find that they work wonders for my skin. Whenever my skin is feeling and looking a little blah, I’d whip out a mask and slap it on. With sheet masks, it can get a little messy and when the masks dry out on your skin because you fell asleep while waiting, it’s never a good thing. So, when I discovered that with sleeping masks, you could simply apply it and hit the sack while allowing it to do its magic, I was completely sold. Hence, I gave Boscia’s Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask a shot. Read on if you want to know if I liked it!
Here’s what the Sephora website says about the product.
What it is:
A deeply-hydrating overnight sleeping mask that intensely moisturises and protects to deliver long-term anti-aging benefits and smoother, baby-soft skin.
What it is formulated to do:
This signature, lightweight botanical blend of tsubaki oil (camellia oil), wakame (Japanese sea kelp), and rice bran oil hydrates, smooths, and protects for the appearance of firm, youthful skin. Serine, an amino acid, locks in moisture, ensuring maximum hydration as you sleep. It acts as an anti-aging moisturiser and preps skin for better absorption of products.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates
What else you need to know:
This product is preservative-, artificial fragrance-, color-, gluten-, and ethanol alcohol-free. It has been dermatologist tested.
Before bed and after cleansing my face, I put on some toner with a cotton pad and apply this cream on my skin in circular motions. I find that it blends very easily into the skin and sinks in pretty quickly. Although at first you’d feel like there is a veil on your skin, that wouldn’t be a problem five to 10 minutes later. You’re then ready for bed! It is quite comfortable to wear to sleep and the mask is very cooling on the skin.
After using it for the past three weeks, I can attest that this sleeping mask really does intensely hydrate, smooth and soften the skin overnight after you rinse it off in the morning. It doesn’t make my complexion look very much brighter, but it really does make a difference in how my skin feels. I also find that my skin absorbs products way better now and for some reason, my makeup stays on a little bit longer. The product claims to help reduce wrinkles, fine lines and all that jazz but it’s too early for me to tell if the product works for that purpose. However, if you have dry skin or you need an extra boost of hydration, this product would be your saviour.
Despite the results, the scent of the product turns me off. Being formulated with so many wonderful and healthy ingredients, you’d really expect it to smell just as great but I cringed upon squeezing out the product from the tube. This sleeping mask smells straight up like insect repellent and I’m not even exaggerating. It’s definitely not pleasant having to apply something that smells like insect repellent on your face but, having said that, I’d still use the product because I know how effective it is.
Boscia’s Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask (80g) is available at all Sephora outlets in Malaysia and retails for approximately RM112.
