6 Healthy Things You Need To Do Before Bed

It’s really easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday living, which is why we need to consciously practice healthy habits. Sleep is one of the those important things to do but there is more to sleeping than just closing your eyes. In order to have a really good rest and allow your body to rest properly, you need to do these things:

Brush your teeth – This should be a no brainer. You should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day, and if it’s convenient, right after meals too. Plaque and bacteria can build up pretty fast if you don’t, which can lead to all sorts of nasty and yucky things. So, always brush your teeth before hitting the sack.

Sleep at the right time – Besides getting the right amount of sleep, which is seven to 9 hours, you should also go to bed at a reasonable hour. While you may have a lot on your plate and a long list of things to get done, save them for tomorrow. You’ll be even more ready to take on the world and finish your tasks if you get enough snooze time.

Don’t snack – It all really depends on the type of food you’re eating before bed. While it’s a general rule to not eat 4 hours before sleep time, if you really have to nibble on something, try eating a fruit like kiwi, which helps with regulating your blood sugar.

Hit the gym – Not only is exercising good for your health and keeps you fit, it also helps with getting you a good night’s sleep that your body needs. After a sweaty and gruelling workout, you’ll find yourself falling into a very deep sleep and will end up feeling so good in the morning.

Take a shower – Don’t hit the sack before showering, because not only are you all yucky but you won’t get that feeling as you would when you let warm water run down your body before bed. Showering before you hit the sack can really improve your sleep quality.

Ditch the electronics – It may seem tempting to scroll through Facebook before bed, or have a TV in your bedroom but the blue light that emits from these electronic devices can really affect your sleep cycle. So, really try and refrain from checking your social media before bed. If possible, keep your devices far away from your bedside table.
