6 Dirty Habits That Cause Breakouts

Getting rid of breakouts do not start with the most effective and expensive beautiful products. Your day-to-day routine and dirty habits could actually be the cause of it all. But don’t worry – we’ve also worked out some simple solutions for you too!

Habit #1: Touching your face
Solution: A lot of us can’t resist not touching our faces, but if you do like touching the smoothness of your skin, or those weird breakout bumps, at least clean your hands first with some hand sanitizer.

Habit #2: Using makeup with ingredients that cause irritation
Solution: Some makeup and beauty products contain ingredients that cause breakouts. Most of these offenders include artificial color, lanolin, mineral oil, petroleum, and artificial fragrance. If they don’t cause breakouts, they’ll probably cause redness and irritation.

Habit #3: Over-exfoliation
Solution: Although exfoliating is truly important in your daily beauty routine, do it in moderation. Too much exfoliating can result in doubling the production of oil in your skin, and even thinning the protective layer of skin you have. Use gentle scrubs if you require daily exfoliation.

Habit #4: Using expired products
Solution:
Every beauty product comes with a limited lifetime. Look up the recommended shelf life of your beauty products before you continue using them. A general rule of thumb should be 12 months.

Habit #5: Reapplying makeup
Solution: We can’t resist touching up makeup at the end of the day, but this is especially limited to foundation and blush. Reapplying foundation and blush over morning makeup causes clogged pores, causing irritation, zits and acne. If you’re going to touch up, use facial wipes first to cleanse your skin and then start with a fresh coat.

Habit #6: Using dirty makeup tools
Solution: Depending on how many times you use makeup, your brushes and tools require proper care and cleaning. Your makeup bruises accumulate particles, including dead skin cells, which is the perfect environment for bacterias. If you can’t wash them daily, at least do it weekly.
