Spring is finally here and there’s nothing like the arrival of the latest fashion items for a new season in stores! We’ve rounded up some of the most wearable and notable pieces from the Spring/Summer 2014 ready-to-wear runway shows last year, and now’s the perfect time to snap them up. 1. Crop tops – It’s time to hit the gym as this is the perfect time to give others a glimpse of your midriff, tastefully. Whether it is a perfectly sculpted crop top, skin-tight turtleneck or a flowy sophisticated satin one, pair it with a high-waisted bottom that covers your navel to avoid looking raunchy.
2. Cut off bottoms – There’s just something about these bottoms that make you look sleek, edgy and put together. The cropped bottom ends about an inch and a half just slightly above the slimmest part of your lower leg and it is extremely versatile. Whether casual or formal, it all depends on how you dress and accessorise the piece.
3. Sheer tops – Whether mesh, chiffon or organza, sheer tops are here to stay. The peek-a-boo detailing adds a hint of sexy and sophistication without baring too much, keeping your whole look polished. We’re absolutely obsessed!
4. Pleated skirts – Shin-grazing, delicate, flowy and majestic, that pretty much sums up this season’s big skirt. It goes with anything and it can make you look crisply modern effortlessly. This skirt will draw all eyes upon you as it floats graciously as you move. The fuller the better!
5. Sporty sandals – Athleticism was super prominent on the runway for spring this year and a significant number of pieces look as if they came from a track-and-field event. These sandals are trendy and super comfy to walk in, which is definitely a plus. Whether you put on some denim shorts or a ball dress, anything goes with these sandals!
6. Block heels – Store your skinny stilettos aside and put your best foot forward with these sophisticated chunky block heels. If you’re looking for walkable heels that are bold and beautiful, you’ll never go wrong with these. Our favourites are the ones with average height heels that are perfect not only for the office but also for a weekend brunch.
7. Statement sweaters – Get yourself a statement sweater with an extremely loud and funky design, even if it’s out of your comfort zone. These cute jumpers are so easy to throw on whatever the occasion and you’ll definitely be the star of the show! Wear these with your pleated skirts for an ultra chic and feminine look.
8. Shorts suit – Matching tops and bottoms are bang on trend right now and what better way to wear the trend than to pull off a sleek and structured shorts suit! Who knew that chopping some length off your conventional suit could make it look so flirty, fun and yet still dressed up?
9. Mini bags – Whip out your dustbags and store your bulky carry-alls to make way for the ‘it’ bags of the season. No larger than an iPad, mini bags are in trend and many designers have also come up with mini versions of their signature handbags specially for the season.
10. Classic button-downs – If there’s one classic piece you should be styling right now, look no further than your good old button-downs! The classic men’s shirt gets a makeover for this season without losing its functional appeal and it works whether it’s in washed out shades, whimsical patterns or strong graphic prints.
