Haircare has always been a hit and miss for me, and I always end up purchasing products that never really suited my hair type or that I never liked. My hair is very thick, tends to get greasy very quickly, doesn’t seem very smooth to the touch and is also prone to developing split ends once in a while.
When I stumbled upon Percy & Reed’s 3-Piece Super Softening Discovery Collection hair kit, I was really looking forward to try the products as I’ve heard pretty good things about the brand that hails from London. The kit comes with three sulfate-free products – Hair’s Best Friend Super Soft Shampoo (75ml), Hair’s Best Friend Super Soft Conditioner (75ml) and Hair’s Best Friend Totally Intensive Treatment Oil (50ml).
According to the Percy & Reed website, the Super Soft shampoo and conditioner contains Camellia Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil and wheat proteins for deep nourishment while the treatment oil contains Camellia Seed Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil and Carrot Seed Oil for that extra boost of hydration and rejuvenation.
Before I tried it out, I was delighted with the kit itself because it comes with smaller quantities of product, which is perfect if you want to test out the products for the first time to see if you’d like it. Also, what first caught my attention was the super cute and sleek packaging.
Firstly, let me tell you about how much I love the scent of the shampoo and conditioner. Unlike many haircare products in the market, this shampoo and conditioner give off a somewhat manly and musky scent that’s pleasant and comforting. I thought it was a little off at first for shampoo and conditioner to smell that way, but it makes my hair smell absolutely divine.
I just shampoo and condition my hair as usual and I find that the shampoo lathers up really well compared to most shampoos I’ve tried. For that reason, I also find myself using less shampoo. When I rinse it out, my hair feels squeaky clean but not in a dry sort of way. The shampoo and conditioner goes really well together and after I’ve conditioned and rinsed it out, my hair instantly feels softer, smoother and shinier.
I also really like the treatment oil as it is lightweight and doesn’t make my hair look greasy after application. If you’re concerned about mess as the bottle doesn’t come with a pump, you should know that there is a pump screw top provided together with the kit. I usually rub a few drops of the oil in between my palms and rub it onto the ends of my hair when it is still slightly damp. I find that it helps to seal in moisture and soaks into the strands of the hair very quickly.
I’ve been using these products for over two weeks now and I find that my hair is much healthier, softer and smoother. There is only one thing that bothers me, though. I usually wash my hair on alternate days as I find that it works better for my hair, but with this shampoo and conditioner, my hair tends to look a little weighed down and a tad bit greasy the very next day. I reckon that this happens due to the oils contained in the products as mentioned above. But then again, a few spritz of dry shampoo on my hair usually solves that problem.
I’d definitely recommend this hair kit to anyone who’s interested in investing in some good haircare products. Although pretty pricey, the products are worth the money spent considering your hair would be pampered with some proper TLC. I just love how my hair feels after I use these products and I’m pretty sure most of you would too.
