If you think lube is only for older women, you’re wrong. According to two recent studies published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, majority of men and women have used commercial lubricants during sex. Both studies utilised data from the 2012 National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior to survey a nationally representative sample of men and women over 18.
In one study, researchers looked at how and why men use lube. They discovered that 70% of all men had used lube before, with 25.4% of men using it the previous month. Men in relationships above age 24 were more likely to use it compared to other guys, and most of them said they used it “for fun” or “to make sex more comfortable”.
The results were also similar when the same study was conducted on women. 65.5% of women reported to have used lube, while 20% used it the previous month. Most women also said that they use lube to make sex more comfortable and exciting.
When asked about why they love using lube so much, most men and women claimed that it makes sex feel better and makes it easier for them to get aroused. Another study found that nearly 50% of people who have used lube said it was easier for orgasm.
