Just weeks after the birth of his son, Eric, with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, Simon Cowell says he’s already loving fatherhood!
In his first post-baby interview, the X Factor judge revealed that he wouldn’t mind being a dad to another child in the future.
“I was born to be a dad,” Cowell said. “I wouldn’t rule out [more children]. Well, I got Squiddly and Diddly, and I couldn’t imagine Squiddly or just Diddly…I had a brother when I was younger, so I kind of think it’s cool to have two or three…two.”
He also talked about making it to New York just in time for Eric’s birth. “Phone rings at half past five in the morning, ‘I’m about to give birth [said Lauren],’ so we had to find a flight, which we did, and I got there with two hours to spare,” Cowell, who was in London for Britain’s Got Talent at the time, said.
The new dad was also rushed with emotions and admitted that he cried and was surprised by the love he felt instantly.
“I actually said to Lauren beforehand, ‘What if I like the dogs more than him?’ and she said, ‘You’re gonna be absolutely fine,’ and then literally within seconds of him being born, I got it.”
Cowell and Silverman are doing fine with the baby so far, but Simon confesses he has to take care of his lady more than the baby!
“Lauren’s actually been crying more than Eric, so I’ve had to put one of those pacifiers in her which she likes. Has to be fed every three hours, otherwise she gets a little bit grumpy, and Eric’s absolutely fine.”
The couple are planning to take Eric to London to meet his grandmother. “I think she’s told the whole village…she’s really excited.” He continued, “I look at him, Eric, and I think of my dad all the time, so it’s a really good thing.”
