And the cows moo-ed in fear!
A computer tech for the Farmington school system was arrested for allegedly having sex with cows while another man filmed the video. The offender, Reid Fontaine, became the talk of the town as everybody in Farmington talked about the arrest. When told that two guys were arrested for having sex with a cow, a woman said, “Oh! I have heard about that. He worked for the Farmington school system. I didn’t know that. That’s sick!”
When the school district heard about the arrest of one of their employees in New York, Farmington police instigated an investigation of their own. They discovered that a farmer was worried about his cows as they appeared agitated and weren’t producing milk.
The farmer then hid cameras in the barn to get behind it.
New York State Police reported that two men were caught on camera, Michael Jones, was allegedly recording Reid Fontaine having sex with a cow.
“I couldn’t believe it! I just… what! No never and then I was like, wow, it’s bizarre,” said Gerilynne Carnelli, a special education teacher in Farmington. She was relieved to hear that Reid did not have contact with any of the students.
“The former employee did not provide instruction to students nor did he have responsibilities involving direct student contact… Once we learned of the arrest of this individual, we took immediate and swift action. The school immediately sent an email, that was it boom, they assessed it took care of it, done,” said Gerilynne.
According to the superintendent, Reid had only been working at the school district for about six months. At that point in time, he underwent an extensive background check, including a criminal check by the Farmington police and also an FBI background check which showed that he had no criminal history nor record that they could detect.
“I think the town is very relieved that it was taken care of,” she said.
“Farmington public schools released the following statement regarding Reid’s arrest:
On Sunday, February 23, the school district was made aware of allegations against a non-certified employee who has worked in the district for the past six (6) months. We were informed that IT Network Specialist, Reid Fontaine, was arrested in another state and is currently facing charges that are unrelated to the school district. Given the nature of the allegations, the district immediately initiated an internal protocol, contacting the Farmington Police Department to promptly investigate. Chief Melanson contacted law enforcement officials in the state where the arrest was made as part of the investigation. Late Sunday evening, Mr. Fontaine resigned from his position, and he is no longer an employee of the Farmington schools.
The former employee did not provide instruction to students nor did he have responsibilities involving direct student contact. As IT Network Specialist, his job involved the maintenance of the district’s technology infrastructure and hardware. When this former employee was hired, a mandatory and comprehensive criminal background check was administered through local law enforcement and the FBI. He had no previous criminal activity or issues in his background check.
The Board of Education and school district place student safety as our highest priority. Once we learned of the arrest of this individual, we took immediate and swift action. “
