Katy Perry’s Dark Horse music video has been edited after a petition plead that she remove a pendant with the word Allah written on it.
Shazad Iqbal, a resident residing in U.K. who started the petition on Change.org, claimed that the usage of the word was “highly controversial.”
A man who’s trying to court Katy is seen wearing the necklace as he’s being burned around the 1:15 mark in the video.
“Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believe and the word God in flames,” the petition read.
“This is the reason for lodging the petition, so that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy, using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion.”
The petition obtained over 65,000 signatures and it was yesterday when Iqbal announced that the image has been edited out.
“Guys I’m thrilled to let you all know the name of Allah has been removed from the Dark Horse video,” he said. “We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support, so I thank each and every one of you deeply.”
