Women in Europe take beauty very seriously and you don’t have to travel far away to find out about their skincare secrets. You’d also be surprised that many European women rely on age-old, natural beauty boosters that are easily available. Without further ado, here are 10 beauty secrets that European women swear by.

1. Cleanse with milk and honey

Milk contains lactic acid, which is a great exfolient for the skin and is filled with plenty of vitamins A and D, which nourishes the complexion. On the other hand, honey is a natural moisturiser that will plump up the skin. After washing your face with a cleanser, soak a cotton pad in some milk, dip it in honey and then massage it all over your face. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry, then follow with the rest of your skincare regimen.

2. Use glycerin

In Europe, glycerin is the ingredient of choice because they place great emphasis in skin hydration. They tend to apply creams and lotions with high amounts of glycerin as this helps to fight dry, chapped skin and reduce redness.

3. They believe in good blood circulation

They are not afraid of using ice cold water on their bodies and faces to get the circulation going to achieve a natural flush of colour and glow. For the skin, ice cold water reduces puffiness and inflammation, and these women usually splash ice cold water on their faces before bed at night.

4. Use honey as a mask

Honey is a great intensive moisture treatment, and the European ladies like to apply a thin layer of honey on their skin and let it sit for at least 10 minutes, before rinsing off. This helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and it protects the skin from damaging sun rays.

5. Improve skin condition instead of piling on more makeup

Unlike most of us who neglect our skincare regimen from time to time, the Europeans prioritize theirs and take a huge deal in making sure that their skin is flawless. This is due to the fact that they do not like piling on tons of makeup – they prefer it au naturel, which looks more effortless.

6. Olive oil is a must

Due to its rich qualities and high antioxidant content, olive oil provides rich nutrients and keeps the skin moisturised. Some European women would apply olive oil directly to their skin as a cleanser or moisturiser, and some would even drink one tablespoon of olive oil daily to keep their skin looking amazing.

7. They spend a great deal of time on grooming

Although they do not say anything about it, they actually spend a huge amount of time grooming themselves. Their skin and brows don’t just appear perfect naturally, and their legs do not just appear fabulous without all the hard work they’ve put in.

8. Use sweet almond oil

Filled with plenty of vitamins and minerals, this oil is commonly used at spa treatments and massages. Besides balancing out dry and irritated skin, it also absorbs well and does not block the pores. Also, sweet almond oil is great for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, pigmentations and stretch marks.

9. Drink plenty of water

As simple as it sounds, European women prioritize moisture and hydration from the inside out. They make it a habit to drink at least one and a half litres of water daily to ensure that their body system functions well and that their skin would be plump and glowy.

10. Exfoliating is key

The Europeans love exfoliating their skin to reveal glowy and flawless skin on their face and bodies. To do this, they mix a quarter cup of sugar and three tablespoons of olive oil to be used as a scrub. The oil loosens the dead skin cells, and the sugar works to slough them off.
