Hong Kong property tycoon Cecil Chao is offering men a whopping HK$1 billion if they can woo his lesbian daughter, Gigi.
Gigi has dated both men and women in her past, and is reported to be in a civil partnership with her girlfriend of seven years, Sean Eav.
Her father Cecil, still believes that there’s hope for her. The 33-year-old director at her father’s company, finds his generous offer “entertaining” and said she is a “really lucky girl to have such a loving daddy”.
Cecil, who claims to have slept with up to 10,000 women in his lifetime, says that Gigi has 70% of her life to go.
“She can choose whatever she wants,” the 76-year-old says. “But anyone who comes along to pursue Gigi, we will give them a moderately deluxe life. I would not force her to marry a man. But obviously I would, from my point of view, prefer her to be married and to have grandchildren.”
Ironically, he also claims that he would not interfere with his daughter’s personal life. “I only hope for her to have a good marriage and children as well as inherit my business”.
While Gigi isn’t worked up by her father’s offer, her partner isn’t quite happy. She told HK Magazine that Sean is upset about the public’s reaction. “For every relationship, it’s not really just a one-sided thing. For Sean, she is getting over a lot of emotional issues that she has with my parents,” she says.
She adds: “It requires a lot of patience and commitment to make a relationship work — not just in romantic relationships, but within the family as well. Dealing with conflicting opinions is just a reflection of how you deal with conflicting opinions within yourself.”
It’s obvious that Gigi’s father means well, but to offer up your daughter on a platter to money-hungry parasites is really not an example of good parenting.
