At 2.30am in the Saudi city of Jeddah, police received a telephone call from a witness reporting of human remains falling from the sky in the Mushrefa neighbourhood.
But don’t worry – it’s not some prophetic sign for the end of mankind. Spokesman Nawaf bin Naser Al-Bouq claims that the remains “fell from a plane’s landing gear”. Rumour has it that a Saudia Airlines jet flying from the Iranian city of Mashdad, made an emergency landing in the city of Medina, injuring 29 people on Sunday.
According to reports, some people climbed inside the bays and held on to the landing gear of the plane in a desperate attempt to cross borders. Some of them froze to death when the aircraft reached cruising altitude, while some others survived.
However, a spokesman for the General Authority of Civil Aviation said that there was no connection between the emergency landing in Medina and the Jeddah incident. On the other hand, a statement from the official Saudi Press Agency said a “minor accident” took place when a technical failure prevented the crew from lowering the rear wheels on the right side of the aircraft.
Although authorities are denying the relationship between the emergency landing and the incident, the rumoured flight incident in Medina does explain why “bodies” would be falling from the sky. Thoughts?
