Describe your personal style – I think the most apt way to describe my personal style would be feminine yet edgy. I like to add a little spunk to my outfit coordination. For example, I like to pair basic pieces with eye-catching items to spice up my outfit. I think it’s essential to invest in a few staple pieces so that you wouldn’t panic when you are dealing with a fashion crisis (a.k.a. days when you just don’t know what to wear). I draw a lot of my fashion influences from inspirational fashion figures like Cara Delevingne, Rumi Neely and Leighton Meester. I am not one for keeping up with fashion trends but I like to know what’s current, and make them work in a way that flatters me the most. One should always make the outfit work, not the other way round. Most importantly, one should always look classy!

Your thoughts on the fashion scene in KL – It’s really nice to see how the fashion scene in KL is progressing at a pretty rapid pace. Walking into local shopping malls, I think it’s pretty evident that Malaysians are being presented with a good mix of local and international brands. With globalization and the Internet, it’s exciting to see how Malaysians are warming up to contemporary fashion brands like Kenzo and Proenza Schouler, which were not huge on local shores before. Furthermore, it’s really refreshing to see how ethnic diversity plays into our style choices when Malaysians take a local cultural element and fuse it with their own fashion styles. Local fashion designers like Jonathan Liang, Bernard Chandran and Jovian Mandagie are taking the world by storm with their bold and unique designs. I think KL has a good potential to be the next fashion capital of the world!

Your favourite places to shop – Some of my favorite go-to places are Topshop, Zara and Club Monaco. I don’t have a specific brand that I live by, but I can always rely on some of my favorite fast-fashion brands like Zara and Topshop for some stylish pieces. I have a flair for contemporary designers like Alexander Wang. To be honest, I’m not really fussy when it comes to fashion brands so as long as they complement my look.
