It’s never a bad idea to start an anti-aging beauty regime at a young age. It doesn’t necessarily transform a 26-year-old into a doe-eyed teenager, but it actually helps delay the aging process. Perhaps it’s my lack of caution when it comes to caring for my eyes, but I have to admit – at the age of 23, I’m already starting to see fine lines around my under-eyes.
Late nights, early mornings and constant attention to a bright computer screen up to nine hours a day can really do major damage to both your eyes and everything around it. I constantly wake up with huge puffy eyes, the occasional saggy eyebag and the dreaded panda eyes. Not many products out there can easily erase those flaws unless you can somehow transform your lifestyle pattern completely, it’s really not going to change anything. It also doesn’t help that dark circles are also hereditary.
A lot of us busy girls need quick relief when it comes to transforming puffy eyes into a pair of bright peepers, and sadly a lot of those solutions can cost a lot, especially when you’re on a fairly tight budget.
I’m not one for facial masks since I exfoliate and cleanse like an obsessed housewife, but if there’s one thing I would actually invest in – it’s anything that has to do with making my eyes look as young as they should. I was skeptical when I first saw the My Beauty Diary Dark Circles Intensive Care Eye Mask standing proudly in the pharmacy, smothered in baby pink packaging. I wasn’t entirely sure if it would work, but since it was only RM29.90 for five packs, I figured I would give it a try.
Perfect for eliminating obvious fatigue around the eyes, each packet came with two fish or crab-claw shaped sheets soaked in a fragrance-free serum. The serum contains a blend of vitamins and plant extracts that help diminish dark circles and brighten eye contours.
Before applying the mask on your eyes, your face should be properly cleansed. Apply a light moisturizer on your skin, but leave the delicate eye area bare. The sheets can be a little uncomfortable at first as I bet the shape of the sheets were made to fit anyone but Asian facial contours. Adjust the ‘claws’ around your under eye and neatly tuck it under your lashes. Just after you’re done, lie back and shut your eyes between 15 to 20 minutes.
Then, remove the sheets and gently massage the serum around your eyes gently with finger tips until it dries. I was surprised to see that my eyes looked noticeably brighter and awake in just a matter of minutes. Perhaps its the combination of the serum, coolness of the eye sheets and the massage, but it’s really a great way to give yourself a quick treatment before stepping out especially when you’ve had very little sleep the night before.
It is recommended to use the eye care mask two to three times a week, but it’s still quite effective even if it’s being used once a week.
Also available are the Puffiness Intensive Care Eye Mask and Smoothness Intensive Care Eye Mask.
