The three teenage siblings who were trained by their parents to rob children from when they were as young as six years old have been taken into custody by the police.

The two boys and girl aged from 13 to 17, carried out their activities during festivals around Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak since the year 2012.

It is believed that the young criminals have been trained by their 52-year old father and 41-year old mother, who both have criminal records pertaining to robbery in the past.

The young criminals’ last robbery took place at the recent ‘Jom Heboh’ carnival, which was held in Bukit Jalil on November 30th and December 1st.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohan Singh said, “We believe the teenagers targeted children whose guardians were busy shopping or watching concerts.”

He also stated that the teenagers would approach targeted victims and use a small scissors to snip off jewellery from their necks or wrists before taking off with the stolen loot.

The whole family was nabbed in front of a five-star hotel in Bukit Bintang on Sunday after a public tip-off and two reports lodged after the carnival.

“We confiscated RM 4,640 from the family. We also found a weighing machine and receipts which showed that the suspects had sold their stolen loot to various jewellery shops in the past year,” ACP Mohan Singh added.

The confiscated articles include a small scissors, a handphone, six lockets, 12 necklaces, three bracelets and an earring which is believed to be made out of gold. Some of the jewellery was even found hidden in the father’s shoes.

The suspects who were nabbed would be remanded until December 6th to facilitate further investigations.
