Honey isn’t just a delicious sweetener, but it’s also one of the most versatile food ingredients that can be used in your beauty ritual. From its cleansing properties to its ability to help remove unwanted stray hairs on your body, here are several beauty treatments you can create with honey.

1. Facial Cleanser
Honey is naturally antibacterial and has soothing and healing properties for the skin. Tie your hair back and apply pure, organic honey on dry skin so it spreads easier. Spread it all over your face, massaging it slowly. You can also apply some of it on your lips to mildly exfoliate and moisturize your skin. Let it sit for two minutes, and then rinse off with warm water. Use a washcloth or a facial sponge to exfoliate slightly.

2. Depilatory Wax
If you hate shaving sticks, you can start waxing your legs or sensitive parts of your body by making your own wax using some honey. Combine 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of water in a sauce pan and heat it over the stove. You can also heat the mixture up in a microwave using a microwave-safe container. Heat the mixture until it turns brown or when the sugar melts. Then, let it cool and apply more water of the mixture appears too thick. Use a small spatula and apply a thin layer of wax to skin, and press down a strip of muslin cloth. Press it down smoothly against the skin and peel the strip off in a swift motion.

3. Acne Treatment
Have acne or pimple on your skin? Use a Q-tip and dab a little honey on the blemish, then seal it with a non-medicated band-aid for 30 minutes. You can also treat burns and abrasions with this technique.

4. Anti-Frizz Hair Treatment
If your mane is constantly terrorized by flyways and frizz, use honey to naturally soothe and relax your hair. Add a tablespoon of honey to a liter of water, and after shampooing, rinse your hair with the mixture and squeeze it off using your hand. Let your hair air dry and style as usual.

5. Hair Lightening Treatment
Want to soften the intense color of your jet black hair? Honey can naturally lighten your hair, giving it a sultry sun-kissed look. Combine a cup of honey with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and apply it on clean, dry hair. Put on a shower cap to  conceal your hair, and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Apply heat from a hair dryer every 10 minutes for a few minutes to really let the honey absorb better.

6. Skin-Softening Body Bath
Hoping to rejuvenate your mind, body and skin, too? Create a warm, relaxing and soothing bath by filling up your tub with a cup of honey, three cups of milk and a few drops of essential oils, and warm water. Honey and milk is perfect nourishment for the skin, allowing it to absorb and retain moisture.
