The 20-year old son of a prominent Tan Sri and a corporate figure was believed to have committed suicide by setting himself on fire at their family home in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI).
The young man poured petrol all over himself before setting himself on fire at the balcony connected to his room early in the morning on November 23rd. It is learnt that he was studying in New Zealand and had returned to Malaysia for a holiday on November 19th.
His burnt body was discovered by his mother not long after the incident occurred. She then alerted her husband who contacted the police.
The police later found a can of petrol and a text message on his mobile phone which read, “See you on the other side”, right beside the burnt body. According to a source, his suicide was due to the stressed relationship between him and his girlfriend.
Azlee Abdullah, Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner said that the body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem and that the case was classified as sudden death.
NST has reported that a picture of the burnt body has been leaked, and that the police is looking into this matter, as well. The picture can be found on several blogs and websites, however, we won’t be publishing it here out of respect for the deceased and his family.
