A 12-year-old boy from Malacca, Muhammad Azmin, was found dead after a non-stop gaming session. It is suspected that the deceased young boy had suffered from a meningitis attack at a cyber cafe the night before.
The boy and his 13-year-old brother went to a cyber cafe at 7:00a.m. on Monday and returned home at 7:00p.m. Both were frequent visitors of the establishment after completing UPSR examinations this year. The next day, Azmin decided to stay at home as he wasn’t feeling well and continued to play video games while refusing to see a doctor due to his fear of injections. His brother said that Azmin experienced a splitting headache on Monday while playing computer games at the Masjid Tanah cyber cafe.
His 40-year-old father, Ha Luding, rushed Azmin to the hospital after his mother discovered his lifeless body but unfortunately it was too late. The autopsy report at the hospital stated Azmin’s cause of death as meningitis. Meningitis is a bacterial infection of the membranes in the brain and spinal cord.
