One of the biggest events of 2013, Urbanscapes – Big Weekend, is finally here! There are so much excitement buzzing around for this big weekend and we’re getting all hyped up for this 2-day event! Therefore, we’ve come up with a survival guide specially dedicated to this amazingly fun weekend!
1. Plan your route.
Before Urbanscapes announced the venue of music festival, we might have not heard of Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). But don’t worry, we have it all figured out!
If you’re not driving to MAEPS, you can either take a bus or a cab but do make sure you collect as much details as you can to avoid any problematic situations to get there and to get back.
Buses will be available every half an hour from KL Sentral to MAEPS starting at 1:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. and from MAEPS to KL Sentral at 11:00p.m. to 1:00a.m. Tickets are available online via Sky Bus by 2:00p.m. on Friday, 22nd November 2013 or you can also get them at KL Sentral on that day but we suggest everyone get their bus tickets in advance.
Taking a cab might be too expensive for some but Urbanscapes teamed up with MyTeksi so you can save on your cab fare. Just download the MyTeksi app and book your cab online to enjoy a RM 10 cash rebate. If it’s your first time using the app, you’ll get a RM 20 rebate!
If you’re driving to MAEPS, you’re probably wondering about the parking space. MAEPS has a huge opened car park, and remember to use your GPS if you’re not familiar with the road!
2. Get your survival kit ready. Here are some suggestions to what can be in your kit:
- Poncho – Malaysia’s weather can be unpredictable – it’s advisable to bring one just in case if it rains.
- Wet wipes, tissues or hand sanitiser – To keep the dirt at a minimal level and stay hygienic the whole day.
- Extra tee – At some point of the day you might be covered in stinky sweat, so we suggest to bring extra top to change rather than be drenched in sweat.
- Towel – It’s an outdoor event, you’ll probably need that to wipe yourself dry and you’ll need it even more if it rains.
- Water or oral rehydration salt – You’re going to be there the whole day and you definitely don’t want to spoil the mood by being dehydrated. This can lead to headaches, sorethroats and feelings of dizziness.
- Cash – Bring enough cash because there will be no ATMs available and bring loads of small change too!
- Portable phone charger or phone charger – With the amount of pictures you’ll be taking, your phone won’t survive the entire day. Bring a portable charger or power bank, plus it’s also important to be reachable just in case an emergency happens.
- Sunblock and shades – The event will start at noon and you don’t want to be a walking red lobster, right?
3. Wear something confortable.
Urbanscapes is definitely not an event for you to show off your killer heels. Wear something you feel comfortable in, like shorts, flowy tank tops and flats or sneakers. We’ve got some suggestions on Rave & Festival outfits over here, so take a look to find out how you can be comfy and still look stylish!
4. Study the event map and schedule.
You don’t want to get lost and waste time trying to find your way to see your favourite artists with so many things happening around you.
5. Stick with your group of friends
Try not to lose sight of your friends – it would be a hassle to run around finding each other in such a big venue with so many people around you. It’s the best if you plan a meet up spot at specific hours.
