Swedish DJ and producer Avicii has unleashed a brilliant full-length album titled True and he has certainly got the EDM world in the palm of his hands. Ever since his hypnotic Grammy-nominated track “Levels” back in 2011 which propelled his career, everyone has been expecting more from the man and he definitely did not disappoint.

Probably the most catchiest song on the album is “Wake Me Up”, which is a tune that consists of an eclectic mix of an electronic and country tone and feel. What sets it apart from other tracks is that it does not sound like a track you would expect from an EDM artist.

Avicii has also collaborated with some talented yet less mainstream artists that you probably wouldn’t know of until you’ve heard the tracks on his album. For instance, one of his tracks “Dear Boy” features Danish singer MØ. His other track, “You Make Me” features Salem Al Fakir, who has previously worked with the DJ for a follow-up single for “Levels” titled, “Silhouettes”. These are just a few of the high-calibre artists featured on the DJ’s album and together, they have created some fresh and enlightening sounds that are individually contrasting but are styled perfectly.

His song “Heart Upon My Sleeve” was initially released with vocals from Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, but when it was released together with the album, it does not contain the vocals. Although some people are disappointed, that song is still one of the standout tracks on True.

This album further cements Avicii as one of the best DJs in the world and it is quite difficult to highlight any lacklustre tunes from the album. He has also made the album very easy-listening and would appeal to anyone from an 8-year old kid with an ear for dance music to amped-up ravers who are familiar with the DJ. True gives you some arousing dance-floor thrills as well as some pop EDM that’s surely convincing and fans will most likely list this as one of their top EDM albums.
