Just a week after his arrest, the rogue Indonesian security guard was officially charged with murdering his colleague while robbing the AmBank branch at the Magistrates Court.
La Ode Ardi Rasila was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1971. According to the charge sheet, La Ode was charged for both robbing RM450,000 off AmBank and murdering banker Norazita Abu Talib, both of which are punishable by death if convicted.
The Malay Mail Online claimed that La Ode’s face was expressionless when the charges were read out to him this morning.
According to the police, La Order carried a fake Malaysian IC and went by the name of Ardi Hamza. The police were able to track down the identity of La Ode through his Facebook profile that was supposedly inactive before the incident.
La Ode’s Indonesian wife, Helpia Laohe, was charged separately at the Magistrates Court here with over-staying in Malaysia for four years, six months and eight days since April 16, 2009. She pleaded guilty.
Now that La Ode has been charged, the police are still on the lookout for the supposed mastermind of the robbery – a man named Joemar. Joemar also carries a fake MyKad bearing the name Osman Salleh. He is believed to be a good friend of La Ode.
“Joemar was believed to be waiting outside the bank and rode the getaway motorcycle. We believe he is also an Indonesian but are unsure as to exactly where he hails from,” said Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan.
