Motorists will probably be able to shed the weight off their backs when it comes to their fuel expenses.
According to Autofreaks.net, multiple social media channels seem to be circulating a rumour that says the price of the RON97 fuel will reduce by RM0.10 effective November 14th. The reports were based on a snapshot of what allegedly looks like an official announcement by the Ministry of Finance that was dated on November 13th 2013.
Malaysian Digest reported that a “prominent automotive blog site in Malaysia” had announced the price drop as well.
The site quoted:
The price of RON97 was quietly dropped by 10 sen effective today, bringing the price of the premium fuel down to RM2.75 per litre.
This decrease comes just over two months after the last price change, where the price of the fuel was increased by 15 sen from RM2.70 per litre. RON95 remains at RM2.10 per litre and diesel at RM2.00 per litre.
Unlike RON95 and diesel, the pricing of RON97 is minimally subsidised and claimed to be derived by market forces, so price changes happen more often than RON95, and diesel.’
It is unknown whether or not the letter pictured above is real or fake, but the RM0.10 decrease in RON97 fuel could in fact lessen the burden of motorists in Malaysia. In September, the Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) announced that the price of RON97 had gone up by RM0.15, allegedly due to various global issues.
