Venezuelan TV host Gabriela Isler was crowned Miss Universe 2013 at finale in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall on Saturday night! Isler’s victory marks the seventh contest win for the Venezuala.
Gabriela, whose full name is Maria Gabriela de Jesus Isler Morales, bested 86 beauty queens to win the coveted diamond crown, which was placed upon Isler by former Miss Universe 2012, United State’s Olivia Culo.
“I have a lot of emotions. I can’t describe all the things that I feel at this moment because I’m shaking,” Isler said.
It also appears that women of Latin descent were the front runners of this year’s pageant. Spain’s Patricia Yurena Rodriguez came in as 1st runner-up, while Ecuador’s Constanza Baez came in 2nd place. Philippines’ Ariella Arida was 3rd runner-up, while Brazil’s Jakelyne Oliveria was 4th runner-up.
Although Miss Universe Malaysia Carey Ng did not make it as a finalist, she still remains optimistic about the journey she’s been on. On her Facebook page, she posted these words of positivism:
Firstly, congratulations to Miss Venezuela Gabby Isler for winning the crown!
Secondly, thank you for making this journey wonderful for me!
Thirdly, God willing, we shall be better and better each year. We must remember it is a country representative we are sending to a stage for 3 weeks (where millions are watching), we will continue to leave an impression!
I love you all, I love you all!!!
See you all soon, I miss Malaysia so much. My journey has not ended!!!
We’re still absolutely proud of Carey and her determination to represent Malaysia all the way in Moscow. You’re still a winner in our eyes, Carey!
