Whether it’s for brunch or late night supper, dim sum is one of the most delicious Chinese dishes to have when you’re craving for something to munch on. The Klang Valley is brimming with so many dim sum restaurants, but it’s sometimes hard to look for the right one. After asking around, we’ve finally decided on our favorite dim sum restaurants in the Klang Valley with halal and non-halal options.
Grand Harbour Restaurant, Fahrenheit 88 [NON-HALAL]
On top of your dim sum classics, you can also try out some of their specialties like pumpkin puffs – a crispy pastry stuffed with mashed pumpkin filling, and the shrimp dumpling with quail eggs shaped like little rabbits! Most of the specialty dishes are decorated to perfection, which makes it a great place for you and your girlfriends to Instagram all you want!
The Ming Room, Bangsar Shopping Centre [NON-HALAL]
The Ming Room has been one of the most reputable dim sum restaurants in Kuala Lumpur for 10 years now. Try their unique backed foie gras with stuffed sea clams, pumpkin wantons and even chilled durian pudding. Giving Chinese cuisine a unique modern twist, it’s no wonder why The Ming Room is one of Bangsar’s best food haunts.
Celestial Court, Sheraton Imperial KL [HALAL]
Offering a rather “celestial” dining experience, Celestial Court is a great halal dim sum spot. Ranging between RM18 – RM28 per serving, the dishes come in big portions so it’s really a bang for your buck. One of the most-ordered items include the large dumpling served in a bowl full of chicken broth, Chinese spinach and egg strips. Other favorites include the grilled stuffed honey glaze chicken meat served with steamed ‘man tou’ buns.
Marco Polo Restaurant, Wisma Lim Foo Yong [HALAL]
Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, Marco Polo is also a great option for halal dim sum diners who want to indulge before heading out to Changkat Bukit Bintang for drinks. Offering signature classics like the ‘Har Kow’ (prawn dumpling), yam dumplings, their duck dishes are highly-raved about. The succulent peking duck is one of the top dishes at Marco Polo, so you’ll have to order it!
Jin Xuan Hong Kong, Damansara Jaya [NON-HALAL]
Voted as one of the top dim sum places in PJ, Jin Xuan Hong Kong offers a contemporary touch to traditional favorites by incorporating bacon and oysters in their menu. Offering dim sum from day till night, the price range of the menu is said to be reasonable too.
Zheng He’ Dim Sum, Kelana Jaya [HALAL]
One of Kelana Jaya’s culinary gems, Zheng He’ Dim Sum offers a classic selection of dim sum and halal Chinese food. Apart from serving food for everyone to share, Zheng He also believes that through dining, everyone can put aside their differences to foster a healthy relationship with everyone.
