Following yesterday’s case whereby a 26-year old suspect went on a stabbing spree around Gombak and Taman Melati, the parents of murdered college student, Kwan Chun Tai can barely accept the death of their son. Chun Tai, 25, was on track to graduate with a business degree from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARC) next month.

His mother, a boutique worker Yong Ean Siang, 55 said her last conversation with her son was at 11am on Wednesday when she had asked him to come home to collect his letters. She also added that Chun Tai, the younger of two siblings was very hardworking and active in college.

“I could not believe it when the police informed me he had been killed…who would have wanted to hurt my son,” she said at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) yesterday. She then added that Chun Tai’s body would be sent to Kwong Tong Funeral Parlour along Jalan Dewan Bahasa for funeral arrangements.

His father, Kwan Chong Tuck, 59, asked in anger, “This is unacceptable! I cannot take it. Chun Tai never did anything wrong to anyone. Why did he have to kill him?”

Kwan Chong Tuck also described his son as “childlike” and that he was an extremely resourceful entrepreneur. Though only 25, Chun Tai managed four clothing retail stores in major shopping malls in the city.

“He started working part time in businesses when he was just 14 and made a successful career all by himself. He had so much going for him but that was all cut short by a mad man,” he said.

Chun Tai was stabbed to death by a delivery man who ran amok at the Taman Melati Putra LRT station yesterday. The man had rammed his van into Chun Tai’s car and continued to stab him five times, once in the heart.

Chun Tai’s cousin, Kwan Wai Yee, 23 said she hoped the man was brought to justice, “I hope the police investigate this and really punish the man for bringing so much hurt to our family.”
