Rihanna’s current ‘Diamonds World Tour’ has been nothing short of controversial. After an online backlash for allegedly performing ‘stoned’ in Singapore and partying at sex clubs in Phuket, Rihanna has recently angered some folks in Abu Dhabi too.
The people at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi weren’t pleased at Rihanna’s flair for photographic elegance at the Grand Mosque over the weekend.
The controversial pop star, who was in the UAE capital last weekend for a show, posted photos of herself on her Instagram account dressed in an elegant black suit, and her hair covered up – an extremely modest look even for the Diamonds singer herself. And while Rihanna’s able to make such a conservative look so provocative, the folks at the Grand Mosque were not happy with it. They said in a statement:
The singer entered the mosque in a personal capacity and without prior co-ordination. She was requested to leave after making indecent pictures which did not match the sacred status of the mosque.
The singer did not present herself to the people in charge and entered through a gate not designated for visitors. She left before entering the mosque itself after she was requested to leave.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a popular tourist attraction open to non-Muslims; however, visitors are advised to respect the religious and cultural sensitivities. And since Rihanna’s chic outfit was deemed indecent, we reckon we’ll need something more modest for a visit. Thanks for the hat tip, RiRi!
