If I were to stand amongst other average Malaysians, you’d notice that I am comparatively much fairer and most of the time, I’d be the odd one out. While it feels really good to be blessed with a skintone that is envied by many, we have our fair people problems as well. Trust me when I say that it isn’t exactly very pleasant when people always come up to me asking if I’m feeling alright because of how pale and sickly I look. It doesn’t matter whether I am panting profusely after a 5-kilometer marathon or whether I am alcohol intoxicated, my skin would still have zero hint of colour whatsoever.
So, when I came across the Garnier Sakura White Pinkish Radiance Moisturizing Cream and read that my skin could have a pinkish glow and radiance in less than four weeks of use, I just couldn’t pass on. Let’s see whether it has worked for me.
What it is and how it works
This product is a moisturizing cream enriched with extracts from the exquisite yet powerful Japanese Sakura flower, otherwise known as cherry blossoms and contains Vitamin B3, Vitamin CG as well as SPF 24/PA+++ to nourish skin deeply, protect, lighten skin tone and dark spots, refine skin texture and smoothen pores. If you have sensitive skin, you’ll be assured to know that the moisturizing cream is also dermatologically tested and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin type.
The key ingredient in the product, which is the Sakura Extract, has a potency to reduce melanin synthesis to help fight skin darkening, refine the skin’s texture as well as comfort the skin. With just one touch of the cream, our skin is supposed to feel deeply moisturized, plumped and smooth. On the packaging, the product also claims that it would make our skin fair, fresh and translucent with a pinkish glow. In just four weeks, our skin could become 60 percent more pinkish and radiant.
How to apply
To use, just spread the cream evenly on your face and neck as a follow up after perfectly cleansing your skin.
Verdict
The main reason why I was attracted to the product in the first place was because I was hoping that it would help to inject some colour into my skin, as it claims, to brighten my overall look and make me look more alive. Of course, I wasn’t hoping for abundantly rosy cheeks as I just wanted a little touch of pink to my skintone.
My normal daily skincare routine starts by the cleansing of my face, then applying a gentle toner to soothe my skin and finally, putting on a moisturizing cream. When I unscrewed the bottle of the Garnier Sakura White Pinkish Radiance Moisturizing Cream, the first thing that I noticed was the scent of the product which was really strong and floral, much like a scented body lotion. For the reason that I am a little sensitive to scents, I thought that it was way too overpowering for my liking, especially for a product that is meant to be used on the face.
Compared to other moisturizers I have used in the past, this Garnier moisturizing cream was surprisingly extremely light to the touch and was really gentle when applied on my skin. It almost has a texture that is lighter than an air-whipped mousse and I could barely feel it on my fingers when picking up the product.
The moisturizing cream also blended in very well and very easily too. My skin instantly felt softer and smoother besides feeling moisturized. What I like most about the product is that it did not leave my skin with any stickiness or oiliness at all and it felt tremendously comfortable to wear.
After two weeks of using this moisturizing cream daily, I found that I was less prone to breakouts and my skin was much smoother, softer and less oily. Although I felt like the product did not do much to give me a more pinkish glow, it is still a very light and calming moisturizer to be used on the skin. Hopefully, I would see a hint of pink on my skin by using this product for the long run.
The Garnier Sakura White Pinkish Radiance Moisturizing Cream retails for RM24.90 per 50ml bottle and is available at all hypermarkets and pharmacies nationwide starting October 2013.
