Students at the Kaposvar University in Hungary did not take the latest dress code enforced by the college head too kindly. Instead of abiding by the new rule, students attended class wearing only their underwear as a form of protest!
In a letter to students, the rector of Kaposvar University ordered that students adhered to a more conservative dress code of dark suits and shoes for men; and jacket, blouse, trousers or a long skirt for women.
The letter also added:
“From October 1, there is also no place in the university for mini-skirts, flip-flops, heavy make-up, inappropriate fashion accessories, or unkempt fingernails and hair”.
While students were permitted to wear lighter clothing during warm, summer days, this prompted them to organise the underwear protest and attend class topless.
According to sources, one of the student protestors said they were dressed appropriately but the weather was warm so they removed their clothes to keep their bodies from overheating. Both male and female students participated in the underwear protest, and apparently planned another protest recently by wearing flip-flops and beach towels to class.
Late last month, topless feminist protesters took over the Nina Ricci SS2013 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. Are topless protests the new go-to move for protestors now?
