DIY: Breast Cancer Awareness Month Nail Art

Every October, the colour pink is always at its prime as a health campaign is held by major charities and organizations globally in support of breast cancer. Also referred to internationally as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), October will be overflowing with people seen sporting pink ribbons and pink clothing in support of the campaign.

Don’t have a pink ribbon? Don’t fret because here I’ll show you how you can do your part in supporting the campaign and also have the most attention-grabbing nails at the same time!

Things you’ll need: A bright pink polish, white polish, a light lavender polish, a top coat, base coat, some nail art brushes and a dotting tool.

Step 1: Paint your thumb, index fingers and ring fingers with the light lavender polish. Then, paint your middle fingers and pinkies in the bright pink polish.

Step 2: Using the dotting tool, make small scattered dots on your middle finger with the light lavender polish.

Step 3: Firstly, dab a few spots of white polish everywhere. Next, use the dotting tool and bright pink polish to make half ‘C’s around the white spots to create a leopard print. In areas where it looks empty, add a few strokes of polish here and there.

Step 4: On your pinky, use the nail art brush to make some stripes down the entire nail.

Step 5: For the index finger, use the nail art brush to make a chevron pattern with the bright pink polish and fill in the top half of the nail. Your nails should now be looking like this.

Step 6: For the pink ribbon, make an ‘X’ at the top half of the nail with the dotting tool. Then, connect it by making a half circle to form the ribbon.

Finally, add a top coat and your pretty pink nails are done. Now that you know how to do it, have fun, good luck and remember to GO PINK!
