It’s a battle between two blondes with a little too much to prove!
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is claiming that Miley “stole” twerking from her. In the October issue of Paper Magazine, the Australian hip hop artist claims: “I’ve been doing that [twerking] on-stage for two-and-a-half years. She probably f***ing watched my videos online and decided to try it.”
The article continued:
During Azalea’s ass-happy song “Cheeks,” she challenged her backup dancers to a twerk-off. Of course, every cellphone camera in the room captured the insanity, and the twerk heard ’round the world went viral. “People just wanna see my butt,” Azalea says with a shrug. “We’d been doing that dance-off at the shows, but no one put it online. At the Bowery, they did.”
Speaking of “stealing”, did Miley steal one of Iggy’s tops too?
Now, Iggy – before you get too carried away with Miley trying to steal your moves, just remember that neither of you”invented” or “brought back” twerking. The alleged originator of twerking actually dates back to the early 90s, where even guys did it! You heard us – buff African-American guys who twerked in black bermuda shorts and tight turtleneck t-shirts.
Many also believe that it was established by ‘The Twerk Team’ in 2005 by two African American girls from Atlanta, Georgia.
