JOY by Procter & Gamble celebrated the historic forming of our nation by creating history in their own right. By uniting Malaysians from all walks of life, JOY has just set the Guinness World Record™ for “The Longest Line of Washed Plates in the World!” A total of 26,213 plates were washed using just a single 800ml bottle of JOY dishwashing liquid – with some to spare.
And just how did JOY manage to gather the sheer number of Malaysians required to accomplish this feat? By sharing out free servings of what Malaysians love most – nasi lemak. Once the very willing volunteers had eaten their fill, their plates were collected and washed using one bottle of JOY and then lined up along Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
This momentous occasion was verified by Blythe Fitzwilliam, Guinness World Record Adjudicator and witnessed by Nicolas de La Giroday – Country CEO, P&G Malaysia and Singapore and Guest of Honor – Y.B. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Kurup – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of the Department of National Unity & Integration.
Commenting on the achievement, the Honorable Minister had this to say: “This achievement is a great display of our Rakyat coming together and uniting as one to create world history. Sharing and bonding over a common love for food, everyone here today can proudly say they helped put Malaysia on the world map! My heartiest congratulations to the organising committee for having achieved this feat in conjunction with Malaysia Day!”
So what is JOY’s secret to its surprisingly powerful and economical dish washing liquid? They say it’s their innovative Wonder Drop™ technology. It has 5x the cleaning power of traditional dish washing liquids, and can even cut through pure grease, a fact that astounded us the first time we heard about it! This amazing fact was not lost on Ms. Chong Poh Yen, a busy housewife, who quipped at the event: “What I witnessed today was truly remarkable. Many of the brands out there claim to tackle the common problems of dishwashing, but JOY has proven itself as the star product. I can’t wait to get myself a bottle to last through countless meals”
The carnival-like atmosphere of the event was taken up a notch by the attendance of Brand Ambassadors Sharifah Sharifah and Chui Ling who amped the crowd up while roping in their celebrity friends to help out. Nasi lemak, fun and setting a Guinness World Record to celebrate Malaysia Day all in the same historic event – it’s a day that we won’t soon forget. The one question you should be asking yourself is this: If a single 800ml bottle of JOY washes more than 26,213 plates, what can it do for you? We’re getting ourselves a bottle to find out!
JOY will be available at all retail stores nationwide from 1 October 2013 in three variants – Refreshing Lemon, Sparkling Lime and AntiBac, at the recommended retail price of RM4.95 for the 250ml bottle, RM13.95 for the 800ml bottle and refill packs at RM3.50 for 200ml, and RM9.95 for 600ml.
