There are a number of F&B outlets in Malaysia offering Western cuisines – Italian and British being the most frequent – but South American dishes are a bit harder to find. If you’re a fan of Mexican food, head to T.G.I.Friday’s to try out its ‘Taste of Mexico’ promotion that’s going on until mid-October 2013 across its outlets nationwide.
The launch of the ‘Taste of Mexico’ promotion happened at T.G.I.Friday’s Hartamas Shopping Centre outlet, which was decorated with piñatas, sombreros and Mexican hand fan. A fully dressed ‘Mexican Wrestler’ also served tortilla chips with guacamole to shopper at the mall.
On the ‘Taste of Mexico’ menu are five new Mexican dishes created from the T.G.I.Friday’s headquarters in the States: Chipotle Yucatan Chicken Salad, Mexican Caprese Salad, Open Face Chicken Tamale, Aztex Beef and Pineapple Tacos and the Burrito Bowl.
Chipotle Yucatan Chicken Salad: Roasted pulled chicken breast seasoned with garlic, oregano and spices. Served on mixed greens and tossed with avocado, mixed cheese, diced tomato, red onion, cilantro and crisp tostadas – all drizzled with cilantro lime vinaigrette and srirache aioli. (A Lipstiq favourite! We recommend to try this – it’s healthy and filling, and a great dish to share with friends or family).
Mexican Caprese Salad: Crunchy layers of tomato and avocado slices mixed with salsa verde, topped with Tex Mex chimmichurri sauce, fresh pico de gallo and Feta cheese crumbles.
Burrito Bowl: Flavorful beef sausage rice and generous layers of black beans, marinated flap steak, and pickled onion slaw. Topped with freshly made pico de gallo, shredded Monterey Jack cheese and cilantro served in a warm tortilla.
Aztec Beef and Pineapple Tacos: Tender pulled beef carnitas flavoured with pineapple pico and a spicy sriracha sauce inside a warm tortilla. Served with a side of beef sausage rice and pickled onions.
Open Face Chicken Tamale: Crisp polenta triangles topped with pulled chicken, a spiced tomato sauce and garnished with pico and fresh Feta cheese.
