BMW Group Malaysia has just announced the return of Malaysia’s longest running and most prestigious short film competition, the BMW Shorties 2013!
The announcement was made in conjunction with the premiere of “Pizza”, the newest short film from the creative mind of BMW Shorties 2012 winner and thriller extraordinaire, Dick Chua.
“Winning the BMW Shorties last year was a dream come true for me. Since then, my team and I have been hard at work crafting our newest thriller, ‘Pizza’ which we hope viewers would enjoy watching as much as they did with our previous film ‘Murdered’,” said Chua.
A masterful pulse-rushing and heart stopping pace thriller, a distinctive trademark of Dick Chua’s film making style, ‘Pizza’ is an adaptation of a true story of a kidnapping case that took place many years ago.
Returning this year for its seventh year, the BMW Shorties short film competition will once again provide budding film enthusiasts in Malaysia with the opportunity to win an RM 75,000 production grant as well as recognition for film making talent in a line-up of awards which includes Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing and Best Sound Engineering as well as the ever popular People’s Choice Award.
With the theme ‘Inspiration’, this year’s BMW Shorties will challenge Malaysians to pursue creativity in storytelling as well as to create short films which will be an inspiration to their peers and audiences.
Judging this year’s competition is a line up of expert from Malaysia’s film making industry namely three-time BMW Shorties judge and renowned commercial film maker Lina Tan, feature film producer Nandita Solomon, celebrated actress and film maker Sharifah Amani, award winning film editor Wong Hui Lynn as well as award winning film director and producer, Sharad Sharan.
The BMW Shorties 2013 is now open for entries and budding short filmmakers have until the 31st of October 2013 to submit their short film entries.
