Imagine playing futsal in the dark with just neon colours on the jerseys and the ball to guide you – well, Dashing For Men ambassadors Henry Golding and Remy Ishak did just that last year, and yesterday they kicked off the second season of ‘Cabaran Dashing – Neon Futsal’. Two footballers from the Selangor Darul Ehsan team also joined them at yesterday’s launch event, striker Afiq Azmi and defender Bunyamin Umar.
The Cabaran Dashing – Neon Futsal competition is organized by men’s skincare brand Dashing For Men, and last year’s inaugural tournament received a participation of around 100 teams across the nation. This year, the winning team will receive a grand prize of RM10,000 worth of products and an exclusive opportunity to visit Astro Sports HD production studio. Cabaran Dashing 2 will start with a preliminary session, semi-final and a final in December this year, and participants will also be able to attend a clinic conducted by star footballers Afiq Azmi and Bunyamin.
The launch event, which took place at Vertigo Club KL (Gardens Mall), was emceed by TV personality Ben Ibrahim, and on stage were also the people behind Dashing For Men who shared insights on the brand. New products were also introduced: The 2 in 1 Face & Body Wash that’s available in the variants Clear Matte and Hydra Energy.
The Lipstiq team was offered the chance to interview TV host/Travel presenter and Dashing For Men ambassador Henry Golding, and we of course said yes as we know that a lot of our readers have a huge crush on the good looking British-Sarawakian celebrity! Find out what Henry has to say about his favourite fitness activities and what kind of girls he finds attractive.
Lipstiq: Do you play futsal yourself?
Henry Golding: I used to play a lot of football when I was growing up in the UK, because over there football is almost like religion. Every Sunday we used to wake up early and play in the freezing cold weather. I played until I was about 16. I wasn’t familiar with futsal until I came here – we don’t really play it in the UK, but it’s huge in Asia. In Malaysia there’s a real futsal culture, it’s amazing.
L: Who’s your favourite football team?
Henry: I used to follow Manchester United when Beckham was just starting his career. Now I try to support Malaysians who are big in football, people like Tony Fernandes with the Rangers. I think we should be proud of Malaysians who make it into the international scene.
L: You participated in Cabaran Dashing tournament last year. How was the experience for you having to play in the dark?
Henry: I gotta say that it’s a totally different experience. You’re used to being able to use a lot of senses, but when sight is at a disadvantage and the lights are out, it’s as if the rules of the games have been revised. It’s an amazing concept, really and it’s so much fun.
L: What else do you do to keep fit?
Henry: I do a lot of wakeboarding, a little bit of rock climbing, and hiking. If I can manage to arrange a mountain climb – I love that. I’ve done a few climbs – Gunung Tahan, Mount Kinabalu, and Mount Fuji in Japan recently. I love the outdoors.
L: You’re an ambassador for Dashing For Men. What are your favourite Dashing For Men products?
Henry: The 2 in 1 face & body wash is awesome, you can kill two birds with one stone with it. It’s a bit cliche to say that women have so many products for every part of their body and face, but you know guys, we wake up late and we don’t have much time so it’s easy!
L: What kind of girl attracts you? What characteristics must she have?
Henry: Definitely class. She also has to be very outgoing, and have a big personality. Obviously a sense of humour is very important. I also like those who are very comfortable in their own skin.
L: Do looks matter to you when it comes to women?
Henry: I think to an extent you need to feel an attraction , but it’s not the first thing that crops up. It’s important to have a good balance. You know the most beautiful person in the world could have the most horrible personality. You need to find a person who clicks with your own personality as well.
L: Lastly, what can your fans expect from you in the near future? Any new projects coming along?
Henry: I’m undertaking some acting classes at the moment, quite intensive ones. I’ve always wanted to venture into acting and films, but I knew that it would only happen when I feel comfortable enough to do it. I think 2014 will see me making my debut films. Hopefully in the Malaysian cinematic industry, because it’s coming out of its shell right now. There’s a lot of great directors currently in our country.
Thank you for sparing some time for us, Henry! We wish you all the best for your Cabaran Dashing tournament!
