It’s not everyday where you meet a girl who has the strength to put down three burly men with her bare hands and still look so good.
18-year-old Lee Xin Yi made headlines in Singapore when she successfully crushed three bulky guys at a pro-wrestling showcase event at Kampong Ubi Community Club gym.
Lee Xin Yi is a second-year student at Republic Polytechnic and first became interested in wrestling in primary school. Now, she reportedly cuts down on her shopping expenses to pay for wrestling class.
25-year-old Ronald Loh, a reporter, decided to see if he could beat Lee. He recalled the fight:
“She first had me choking and struggling to break free from her iron-grip headlock. I managed to push her away. But she bounced off the ropes and came charging back at me. The next thing I knew, I flew backwards and crashed to the ground with a loud “thud”. Her thin but strong arm then returned around my neck and I was violently pounded to the ground.”
However, the initial pro-wrestling was staged, it’s actually how the entire sporting event works. Andruew Tang, co-founder of Singapore’s first professional wrestling league, Singapore Pro Wrestling, explains : “The winners of each fight are predetermined based on their work ethic in training, their ability to draw the audience and how well they’ve mastered the moves.”
So, rules are rules when the sport’s involved, but it’s still pretty sweet to learn of a woman who really knowns how to kick some butt!
